Kimberleyland is located in Kununurra, in North Western Australia, about 48 km from the Northern Territory border.
Effective quarantine is vital to maintaining the area’s reputation as a low pest, low chemical agricultural producer. Visitors to Kununurra, coming up from the south, may not realize that we don't have the Mediterranean fruit fly in the Ord River district. Because of this freedom, Kununurra's melons and mangoes can be sent around Australia without treatment.

FACTS ABOUT QUARANTINE IN THE KIMBERLEY

Pests and diseases carried into the region may potentially destroy not only whole crops, but whole industries. This is especially relevant for our export markets where we must maintain a pest free status. We all have an interest in not having to apply expensive chemicals to our fresh fruit.
