Q: Are there any alcohol restrictions?

A: Yes, we have daily limits on the amount of alcohol that can be purchased. Bottle shops in Kununurra are open from 12pm to 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and require a drivers licence or other ID to be presented. ID is scanned into the TAMS system to prevent purchases from more than one outlet each day (this data is wiped daily). Generally each person is limited to 1 carton of beer OR 3 bottles of wine OR 1 bottle of spirits, per day. Travellers may bring alcohol into Kununurra (for example from Broome or Katherine) however it must be for personal consumption only. There are some limitations to where you can take alcohol along the Gibb River Road in relation to some Dry Communities - for further advice please speak to our staff!
