Mitchell Plateau, Kalumburu and Honeymoon Bay

As with many things, there is some uncertainty of the reopening of the Mitchell Plateau and Kalumburu Road due to their proximity to vulnerable Aboriginal Communities. We can not be certain the plateau will be open in 2021 but the word is that it wil be in some form or another.
The North Kimberley is unique, remote and absolutely unforgettable. The crew at Kimberleyland have described it as "Heaven on Earth".
If you are looking for advice on Fishing spots, Fishing Licenses, Alcohol Restrictions, Campsites, Waterholes to visit, where to find WW2 Japenese bombers plane wrecks or information on the new permit system we recommend you speak to our friendly crew, the Kununurra Visitors Centre or follow the Honeymoon Bay or McGowan's Sunset Beach Facebook Page for on-the-ground, up-to-date and comprehensive helpful knowledge.

There is a new permit system in place which only began in 2018, for detailed information please visit the Kalumburu Aboriginal Corporation Webpage or for the Mitchell Plateau Uunguu Visitor Pass Webpage

There are also many guided tours and transport available.
