Boat Cruises

Departs from Kununurra - Accommodation Pick up provided.

Experience a thrilling and epic Boat Cruise on Lake Kununurra. This river cruise is the longest in Australia at 55km and never disappoints!

An abundance of birds, aquatic life, gorges, freshwater crocodiles - river cruises down Lake Kununurra are incredibly diverse. This riverway was dammed in 1963 with the building of the Ord Diversion Dam on Bandicoot Bar, the Western entrance to Kununurra. Lake Kununurra runs 55km from the Lake Argyle Dam to the Diversion Dam. The Dams were installed to irrigate the Ord Valley farms providing a unique gravity fed watering system. Today the lake is host to not only river cruises but float plane landings, house boats, water skiing, dragon boating and a range of water recrational activities.

The Lake Argyle Dam was built in 1971 and is Australia's second largest freshwater man-made reservior. Only 335m in length it holds a mind-boggling volume of water - the capacity to hold 20 times the volume of Sydney Harbour. The Argyle Durack Homestead was relocated with the building of the dam and is open as a fascinating museum from April until October.
